About Jakob

Most importantly, I am a believer in Christ Jesus and I long for everyone I know to come to Him. Jesus saved me from legalism and has led me to where I am today. I live now with the hopes of glorifying Him above all else.

Of second importance is another person: I married my lovely wife Emmalie in January of 2011, and God has been sanctifying us ever since! She is the most important person on earth to me, and I love her dearly. Thanks to all of you who pray for us and long to see us grow together in unity and peace in Christ!

Until my move to FBC of South Portland, I was the primary editor at the blog of Atmosphere Church. In addition to my responsibilities at the site, I would aide in coordinating the worship bands and theological study. Now, I am the Youth director at FBC and am working towards bringing the teens, and thus the whole Church, closer to Jesus. I am happy to serve

In addition to this, I attend college at New England Bible College where I am about to begin my fourth year working on a B.A. in Biblical Studies. I love to read, and have been posting reviews of the books on our site here. Because of my love for reading, I also like to write. So in addition to this blog, it is my dream to be an author some day. I have a few concepts in mind and in writing including on called Where I Stand - the premise of which is that many believers don’t ever witness to people because they think their lives are good enough testimonies to bring people to Christ without evangelism. I am trying to challenge that by challenging them on their lifestyles and behaviors outside of Church on Sunday. I also have the desire to take many of my life experiences, mesh them with the Gospel, and put them into writing for instruction.

I love to travel and have been to Sweden many times as I have family there. My European travels have also brought me to Ireland, Norway, Denmark and I have been to China on a short term mission trip in August of 2008. God has blessed me greatly in everything that He has seen me through, and I am continuing to learn to love him and his Gospel more everyday.

Theologically, I am a Calvinist. I believe in God’s complete sovereignty over everything, and man’s responsibility to accept the gift of grace. It is by grace that we are saved, and that grace is sufficient and effective to cause good works in every believer. Regarding the end-times, as many have wondered, I lean more towards an amillenial post tribulation view of the end. What that means is that I don’t think Christians are going to escape tribulation, as many are already living in it, and when Christ returns, I think He’s going to finish it all in one swoop. But I am relatively peaceful with those of differing opinions so long as they have studied and not simply followed what every famous preacher has said. May we be more noble than that and study what we hear (Acts 17.11).
