not to be grasped

Philippians 2:4-7

Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this in mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though He was in the form of God, did not count equality with God something to be grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.

Recently, a friend of mine changed her facebook status to show her appreciation of Christ for coming in the form of a humble baby, like her new nephew. Jesus came like that! He left His splendor that He had before the creation of the world to come down into this earth and save us! Why is this? Why would you leave heaven? Why would you leave direct fellowship with the father and come to a place where there is pain, suffering, and torment?

This is not the only time that Christ denied His claims to what would be rightfully His as God. He did it in the wilderness when being tempted by Satan, He also did it at the Cross when He could have called a great host of angels to rescue Himself… not that He would have needed the angels…

But the point is that Jesus is so humble that he came down to earth where we are and died for us! First- Praise Him for coming and saving us… then, seek His humility in your own life.
